Chichester Design has an Engagement in London

02 Dec 2009

13950_105403242804519_100000045302172_150437_1711439_nLast weekend the Chichester Design crew headed to London Town to celebrate the engagement of Executive Director, Simon and his lovely lady Ellie and what a joyous occasion that was.

Myself, Pete, Jeremy and Celine thought we’d make a day of it in the Big Smoke and set out bright and early in the morning. After braving the trains, which were all over the place thanks to the previous night’s electrical storm blowing the signal box between Chichester and Havant, we arrived at London Victoria to face the palaver which was the London Underground 4 shopping weekends before Christmas. Busy is an understatement!

Here, we split off – Pete and I ventured to London Zoo and Jeremy and Celine hot-footed it to Westfield, Europe’s largest mall, to check out the maternity clothing shops for a growing Celine. We had a fab time at the zoo where I was especially pleased to see my favourite animals, the fascinating tapir. I love tapirs! The other highlights were a gorilla with a penchant for a pink glove, 7 otters snuggling from the cold in a tiny den, an aardvark munching his supper of termite gruel, a beautiful prancing albino porcupine, a 69 year old Galapagos tortoise who took around 2 minutes just to yawn and a tiger cub trying his hardest to climb a tree while his mum looked on disapprovingly.

We met back up with Jeremy and Celine at the Somers Town, Chalton Street, near Euston Tube. They’d had a good nose around the shops and Celine got a few ideas for her baby accommodating wardrobe but no purchases were made, apart from a pair of Swedish swimming goggles?! Jeremy is a fountain of knowledge on said swimming goggles; if you too are a goggle enthusiast you can find out more from jeremy@chichesterdesign.co.uk. (;-p)

Pete and I arrived at the same time as the party’s hosts- but if you can’t be fashionably late for your own engagement party when can you be? After some hugs, congratulations etc we settled into some comfy seats at the lovely French gastro-pub and met a few of the happy couple’s mates.

Unfortunately Lucy, Ben’s better half, had to work – such is the life of the excellent Chichester Design photographer – so the pair joined us later in the evening at the soirée’s venue. They turned up, complete with the Simon and Ellie’s engagement gift from the Chichester Design team – a digital photo frame so that they can start documenting their life in union, awwww! Simon and Ellie, of course, loved the gift and everyone was as happy as Larry, whoever he is – especially when the French fries with Bloody Mary ketchup came out- mmm mmmmm!

Soon it was time to find our way back to Victoria to get the train back home to Chichester. We made it in good time and stopped for a photo in front of the ridiculously huge camera in the middle of Victoria – not sure why, it just amused us at the time! We then got peckish and headed to the food court to stock up on train snacks. Ben went for some dried mangos and rice cakes (the fascinating diet of one who cannot consume fat!), Lucy went for a crowd pleasing Pic ‘n’ Mix, Celine fancied some digestive biscuits and an orange, Jeremy opted out (well he did consume a big fat meaty burger in the pub) and Pete and I went for some rather refined cheese and crackers – a choice selection, I must say!

That was that really, an insight into the wild and wayward lives of the Chichester Design team members- we truly are a bunch of crazy social animals! Our next team social will be my snow-themed flat-warming party in two weeks time, where there will be dressing up aplenty. Stay tuned, you won’t want to miss those photos!
