Chichester Design: consumers looking more and more to social networks for brand guidance

More interesting news on Facebook’s growing role as a marketing tool for businesses. A recently published report found that, of the people surveyed, nearly a quarter wanted brand information via Facebook.

According to the report by digital consultancy Beyond, nearly half of those surveyed said that they follow brands and companies through a social network, with Facebook the most popular source: 23% of participants said that they would prefer to receive information on brands and companies through Facebook, ahead of a company’s own website and a company’s own blog.

Chichester Design blog: Facebook Places takes its place on the social media map

I recently talked about Google Places and its usefulness as a business tool in terms of optimising visibility through a location-based Google search. Well, another Places has been launched – this time Facebook Places. It’s only available in the US at the moment, but it won’t be long before it’s here.

In short, Facebook Places allows users to make their location known to friends and goes up against existing location-based social network rivals such as Foursquare and Gowolla.
